When trucking was just a gleam in some of today's drivers' eyes and Interstate 80 was not yet completed, the Iowa 80 Truckstop was founded.  In 1964, Standard Oil built and opened the truck stop, and in September 1965, Bill Moon took over management of the truck stop for Amoco.  Like many of the truck stops in existence at the time, Iowa 80 was a small facility that only took up a fraction of what it does today.  Over the years, the Iowa 80 TA Truckstop has undergone significant expansion projects to widen the gap as the largest truck stop in the world.  With over 900 parking spaces, you're sure to find room to rest during off-duty hours.  The Truckstop boasts the Iowa 80 Kitchen, a 300-seat restaurant, Super Truck Showroom, barber, dentist, chiropractor, laundry facilities, DogoMat Pet Wash.  The Iowa 80 Truckstop has an impressive selection of quick serve restaurants including Wendy's, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen, Caribou Coffee, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Chester's Chicken, and Blimpie.

Under Bill & Carolyn Moon's keen management, the truckstop began to grow and in 1984 Bill Moon purchased the truckstop from Amoco.  Like the trucking industry itself, the Iowa 80 Truckstop has been a flurry of activity and expansion ever since.  Today, the second and third generations of the Moon Family work at and operate the truckstop with the focus on the customer and the continuous expansions prove it.

Mr. Moon's focus on the customer is what sparked the beginning of the Walcott Truckers Jamboree in 1979.  This huge driver appreciation event has evolved over the years.  Today, the celebration includes a cookout, Super Truck Beauty Contest, exhibits, live entertainment, and truck displays.
